Babies on the way (shower gift idea)

For my inaugural post, I'm going to share a baby shower gift idea because...

Don't we all just LOVE babies?

this is my little cutie, and i'm crazy about her!

Something about their tiny little hands and their sweet smell melts our hearts.  We find ourselves willing to do just about anything for a smile and a cuddle.

And this is why we fawn over pregnant women, who are a symbol of the most beautiful miracle imaginable.  Plus, belly bumps are amazingly cute.

***Of course, when you can't fit into any of your clothes, can't stop crying during commercials for diapers, and haven't made it through one night without having to waddle to the bathroom for a potty break, you don't much feel like a walking miracle.***

me, 6 months preggers, before I was huge and scary

I am lucky enough to have MANY MANY MANY pregnant women in my life.
Which got me thinking...

My fabulous IDEA:
I had the great idea of making a checklist for what belongs in a diaper bag
(I make and use these sorts of checklists all the time.  When I don't, I end up wherever I am supposed to be without anything I am supposed to have.)
And then, the even GREATER idea was to buy these items as a shower gift for one of these new mommas.  Yep, I know, GREAT IDEA, Amber!

And the last of the great ideas here (I'm so on a roll) is to share the list with you, so you can use it, share it, use it as an IDEA for a shower gift, or all of the above!

fyi - I did include this list in the gift bag with the goodies I purchased, which were NOT every single item on the list.

**disclaimer: I'm in Michigan along with all of my new-momma friends, and there is a small refernece to this.  Feel free to ignore it!

In the diaper bag
  • Diapers (duh) – twice as many as you think you will need
  • Wipes
  • Changing pad
  • Diaper rash cream, lotion, antibacterial hand gel, baby powder, sunscreen, q-tips
  • Extra baggie for soiled diapers
  • Spare outfit in case of spit-up/poop everywhere (which is inevitable) Don’t forget mitts, socks and bib
  • Extra baggie for soiled clothes
  • Burp cloths
  • Receiving blanket
  • Bottles and pre-measured formula, water, or nursing pads and nursing cover
  • Spare pacifier and clip
  • Toy, little snacks (these are more important in the 6+ mo range)
  • Pacifier wipes
  • Hat (a spare one you don’t like all that much but have just in case it was 65 when you walked into Meijer and 35 when you walked out.  This is Michigan, after all.)
  • Stuff for you – snack, gum, bottle of water
And here is a pic of the items I gave to the hubs' cousin (one of my preggers ladies).

Extra cute ideas:
-buy the diaper bag and include these items and the checklist inside
-include something handmade like this paci clip or this wipes case (SO CUTE)!

OK, veteran mommas, aunties, grandmas, and the rest, can you think of anything else that goes on the list?  What belongs in the diaper bag?
